We all know how STEM education benefits young children, and thus STEM activities are significantly in demand, but how to bring STEM in everyday life is always a question.

Undoubtedly, STEM toys and STEM kits for kids are a great option but do you know that you can give various valuable lessons right at your home.

The term STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. But the reality is that most of us use STEM activities in day-to-day life knowingly or unknowingly, and this can be used effectively to teach STEM to kids

Schools are now integrating these useful concepts altogether into their regular study lessons, and the outcome is observed to be a very positive one.

The statistics say that STEM jobs are expected to grow by more than a million every year. Teaching such valuable lessons in the school helps to integrate real-world scenarios into education. This can be done using technology, experiments, and hands-on activities.

But the best way to go about is to bring STEM into your child’s everyday life.

How STEM Can Be Used In Everyday Life

1.Baking

If you love to bake with your kids, then while you are doing so, you can continuously teach them math lessons.

While using measuring cups and calculating various quantities to be added in the recipes, kids can learn addition and subtraction.

Baking is a fun activity through which the kids can observe how things change their forms. Along with that, the kids also see how you handle various problems that may arise in the process of baking.

2.Cleaning

Cleaning is another day-to-day activity through which the kids learn a lot about STEM. The do it yourself cleaners that are made using various products give them a little knowledge about science. The quantities of different cleaning products that are used to make DIY cleaners teach them mathematics.

Other than that, the vacuum cleaners, wipers, and other technological tools that are used in the process of cleaning give them hands-on experience of how the technology works.

3.Shopping

Shopping is another great way to include STEM lessons in day to day life. While you make your shopping list, you can discuss what all things you require and what is the cost of each item mentioned in the list.

If your kids are old enough, you can talk to them about the budgeting principles and simple calculations that impact our daily lives.

4.While Going Out For A Ride.

When your child is enjoying a ride with you, utilize that time to explain to them about speed, velocity, distance, etc.

Encourage them to observe various vehicles on the road and their speeds. And when you come back home, expand the horizon of their learning by playing road games with toys, trucks, cars, and other vehicles.

5.Thinking About The Solutions

Sometimes, some situations are not as simple as we expect them to be. Therefore we need to come up with probable solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to get your kids involved in the process and thus teach them problem-solving skills.

Every day we are presented with various opportunities where we have to find more than one solution to a problem, and this is where you must get your kids involved.

STEM Labs, offers various courses that further facilitate STEM learning of young children through fun learning activities. It helps children to discover the fantastic world of science, technology, engineering, and math through hands-on activities.

By introducing STEM concepts to our children during their learning years, we offer them the chance to explore and develop an interest in these subjects, thus helping our kids to walk the road to success.
